در ايالات متحده امريكا هر ده سال يكبار يك سرشماري عمومي صورت مي‌گيرد. امسال اين سرشماري در اول ماه مارچ 2010 آغاز مي‌شود. هدف سرشماري بدست آوردن رقم دقيق جمعيت مقيم آمريكا است.  همه، از هر سن، نژاد، قوميت، شهروند يا غيرشهروند بايد شمرده شوند.
اطلاعاتي كه از شما دريافت مي‌شود بر اساس قوانين  آمريكا محرمانه مي‌ماند و اين اطلاعات به هيچ نهاد ديگر دولتي يا غيردولتي داده نمي‌شود. مهمترين پرسش در فرم سرشماري براي ما ايرانيان پرسش شماره 9 است كه ويژه نژاد و مليت است.
 براي آن كه شمارش صحيحي از ايرانيان به دست آيد پاسخ ما بايد در بخش other و كلمه‌اي كه بايد بنويسيم Iranian و يا Iranian-American  است.

مقامات دولتي براي تخصيص خدمات دولتي به اقليت‌ها بر اساس جمعيت‌ آنها تصميم مي‌گيرند.

  
 
10 Questions = 10 minutes
With one of the shortest questionnaires in history, the 2010 Census asks for name, gender, age, race, ethnicity, relationship, and whether you own or rent your home. It takes only about 10 minutes for the average household to complete.  Other questions are now covered on a separate American Community Survey.

1- How many people were living or staying in this house, apartment, or mobile home on April 1, 2010

2- Were there any additional people staying here April 1, 2010 that you did not include in Q1?

3- Is this house, apartment, or mobil home – owned, rented?

4- What is your telephone number?

5- Please provide information for each person living here? (First/Last names)

6- What is person 1’s sex?

7- What is person 1’s age and what is person’s 1’s date of birth?

8- Is person 1 of Hispanic, Latino or Spanish origin?

9- What is Person 1’s race?

10- Does person 1 sometimes live or stay somewhere else?

  
  Please review  2010 Census form/questionnaire in both Farsi and English, Both forms are used as samples only. The actual form (in English) will be mailed to all addresses in U.S. in March 2010.
